Infants & Toddlers
Our Infant and Toddler classrooms are equipped with the necessary tools for learning, creativity and safety. Each room is a low teacher/student ratio for more personalized care. Bible Lessons accompany daily Circle Time lessons; Play Centers are age-appropriate and potty training is available at the appropriate ages. Our 1 year old and infant nursery teachers have over 30 years of combined experience with toddlers and babies, and are qualified with Florida State Early Childhood requirements. These classrooms have been created in keeping with professionalism and state regulations while keeping a “home-like” atmosphere for ease of adjustment. Our staff has been ACSI approved, have a Christian testimony and are CPR/AED/Blood Borne Pathogen Certified.
Step By Step Children’s Enrichment Center offers a full preschool program that includes wrap-around care for K-2, K-3 and K-4 classes. Children ages 2-4 can enjoy a daily routine of Circle Time activities that build foundational blocks in the standard areas of counting, letter recognition, colors, shapes and teachers progressively add Scripture, recited prayer and pledges. Step By Step classes use The Wee Learn Curriculum©. “WEE Learn: Curriculum Guide for Pre-K is a comprehensive curriculum plan for two to four-year olds that contains ample teaching suggestions for using books, music, nature, and toys to illustrate Christian fundamentals. Age-appropriate learning activities are designed to lay a foundation for understanding God, Jesus, Bible, church, self, family, others, and the natural world. This guide includes learning centers, group activities and parent letters as well as activities for pre-reading, pre-writing, phonics, and number skills. Each unit features 2 Bible stories, and the expanded appendix contains teaching helps, finger plays, and recipes.”
Full-time care also includes teaching social skills, sharing, team unity, plenty of outdoor time and personal hygiene skills. Children will enjoy weekly chapel with Pastor Gerald, reading time, outdoor play, and playtime in our Fellowship Hall. Classes also participate in “Pizza Lunch” Fridays once a month and Show and Tell. Two Year Old classrooms begin the process of potty training your child giving ample time for complete training before entering the K-3 class. We also offer a Transitional Kindergarten class which is an advanced K-4 classroom for students whose 5th birthday occurs just past the school district cut-off date.
Step By Step offers an Aftercare Elementary School Care program that operates from the first day of school until the last day of the school year according to the Escambia County School Calendar. Our aftercare staff will pick up students from three local elementary schools, Jim Allen, Pine Meadow and Lipscomb, and transport the students to our facility. Parents may also have arrangements made with some schools to have their student transported by the school to our facility. Please check with your school to see if this option is available.
Our Aftercare program is staffed with Christian men and women who have experience working with elementary children. It is our goal to help your child as needed and encourage your child to get their homework completed so that you may have more quality time in the evenings with your family. Also, our role is to work together with parents to help students develop appropriate behaviors. Our staff uses Bible lessons, devotional exercises, games, team challenges and unity as the basis for character training in Biblical contexts. When time allows, staff will also prepare crafts, celebrate birthdays and allow free play in centers.
Step By Step offers full day care for elementary school age children during the summer. Our Step By Step Summer Camp Staff has experience in working with Elementary age students and seeks to promote a summer of fun balanced with teaching character skills, Biblical teaching, creative arts, physical activities, team activities, music, and field trips. Our Summer Camp culminates with a full creative arts program involving music, dance, and character roles that will express to the audience many lessons learned over the summer. We offer daily care or weekly care. If your child will not be attending on a regular weekly basis, and you will only need specific days, please let us know the days your child will be attending one week in advance. Please keep up with your Summer Camp Schedule included in your Summer Camp parent letter and check your Step By Step schedule for days we will be closed.
